Vilsack Taps the Roots to Protest War
Former Iowa governor and Democratic presidential hopeful Tom Vilsack is reaching into the grass- and netroots to end the Bush War. He blast emailed the following message yesterday:
- Last week, as one of my last acts as governor, I challenged the Iowa General Assembly to pass a resolution rejecting the escalation of the Iraq War. Later that afternoon I asked you to help send a message to Washington, DC by organizing similar resolutions in your hometown.
And we did.
Today, one week later, our efforts are paying off.
- Not only are Iowa State Senate leaders currently drafting a full resolution, but citizens around the country are speaking up and asking for the Vilsack Resolution to appear on their town board or city council meeting agendas.
- Will you continue to speak out and write a letter to the editor in your local newspaper?

This is smart politics in NH, where voters dumped two pro-war Republican congressmen in November for two anti-war Democrats. The activists who helped send underdog Rep. Carol Shea-Porter to Washington will take note.
